Description
Fun, colourful visuals using objects, shapes and patterns demonstrate and give a clear understanding of the terminology, ‘symmetry’.
A clear red dotted line on the visuals defines how the various objects have a ‘flipped’ half, again giving a visual representation of ‘symmetry/symmetrical’.
A list of ‘Symmetry Words’ identifies the various shapes, objects and patterns used in the visuals.
The children are able to practice their understanding of symmetry by completing a variety of exercises on the reverse side of the mat, for example drawing their own symmetrical patterns, shading in squares to complete a pattern and identifying shapes by matching ‘flipped’ halves.
